Free Alzheimer’s screening offered

Dementia or Alzheimer's disease can be a worrisome and confusing diagnosis, both for those receiving it and for their caretakers. Early detection and intervention is key to living the best life possible.

Parsons Presbyterian Manor will host a free dementia screening event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. November 12 at the community, 3501 Dirr Ave. in Parsons. Call 620-421-1450 for information or to schedule your appointment today. Screenings will be conducted by the Aegis Therapies team.

The screening process includes a list of specific questions. The answers to the questions indicate whether or not dementia is probable. If so, participants will be encouraged to make an appointment with their family physician and get their family, loved ones or support network involved.

People don't realize that they can slow the progress of the disease and in some cases, even improve functioning, with early detection and treatment.
