Presbyterian Manor Art is Ageless® exhibit will be hosted online only

The traditional Art is Ageless® exhibit at Parsons Presbyterian Manor will take a slightly different direction this year to ensure the safety of residents, staff and artists during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Local senior artists 65 and older may submit art pieces digitally via email or text message by April 10, 2020. The digital images will be collected and featured on the Parsons Facebook page beginning Monday, April 13. While the exhibit will not be a truly juried exhibit this year, we will host a “People’s Choice” interactive voting option. Depending on the number of submissions, “People’s Choice” categories will be determined before the exhibit is posted to Facebook.

Art is Ageless is a trademarked program of PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America). The program offers senior artists the opportunity to share their artwork and reaffirms the agelessness of human creativity. The exhibit at Parsons Presbyterian Manor has grown over recent years to display more than 90 pieces of artwork by local senior artists and residents.

“It’s inspiring to see the beautiful pieces these seniors have created,” said Maegan Pegues, executive director. “Given the amount of disruption our residents, employees and families have experienced to their daily lives over the past few weeks, we knew we needed to get creative and find a way to safely continue with the joy this popular event brings to them.”

Local senior artists will be celebrated April 17 on the Parsons Presbyterian Manor Facebook page when the People’s Choice winner(s) are announced. The first Art is Ageless calendar was published in 1981, featuring art from Presbyterian Manor community residents and the Art is Ageless® programming is now observing its 40th anniversary.

If you would like additional information on how to submit artwork or have questions about the Art is Ageless program, please contact Alex Peak at 620-421-1450 or by email at apeak@pmma.org for more information.
